Yikes! How was it?

I'm calling my death metal band Thundersnow. Once I learn how to play death metal. And find a band.

Step 1 - growl a lot
Step 2 - bang on anything near you as fast and loudly as you can
Step 3 - ???
Step 4 - Profit!

I’m posting now from one of the few cafés that still has power. I’ve got no power or heat at home, and no internet, of course. There are fallen trees and branches everywhere so I would be surprised if power is restored soon.

Do you have somewhere to go when the cafe closes?

Power is back! I am surprised and impressed!

If the power wasn't back I'd just do the same thing as yesterday - huddle under a pile of blankets with a warm snuggly dog.

In an unrelated note, we had a minor inconvenience of our water supply being cut-off on Weds evening, but it was restored within an hour of us and our neighbours noticing, and looks like it was a leak/burst main down the road from us.

A mere week after our ice storm, we're expecting a high of 28

Time to move into the basement for the summer. Usually I don't need to do that until mid-to-late June.

I just heard from my aunt in West Montreal - they lost power for a week, they have a tree over their roof and their neighbour's, my cousin's car has about $30,000 worth of damage from a tree falling on it, my aunt's car is in the shop with unspecified damage, and my uncle's car's trunk was squashed. They had a small flood in their basement, and are now going through their fridge and freezer, "trying to decide what is good and what will kill us."

I obviously got off lightly. I feel like such a whiner now

That's a lot! Will there be any help from insurance or disaster relief from the government?

That remains to be seen - she says she's been spending the last three days on the phone with insurance companies.

Oh dear. I hope they can get some financial help. That's a lot!

I can't believe it's been raining for the last three days. In May! The hills are still green!

Wow! It has been cool, cloudy, and rainy here until today. Now it's sunny and 68F. Ahhhh.
