Even I - self confessed ROTK film hater - am almost getting excited that Amazon have dispatched the package.

Fingers and tootsies are duly crossed that it will arrive on time, that the gift won't be too tacky and that maybe, just maybe, I might be able to watch it without having to turn off the moment the dead show up at Pelennor.

Good enough enthusiasm for you.

Hmmm I only saw RotK once, confirmed hater here too. (even after the first two and tempering my expecations to zero, I was pissed off, and didn't see the sense in pissing away good money after bad.)

I await EE to restore what little faith in PJ.

So I better avoid this thread till Tuesday then.

Our still hasn't showed up. To be fair, we were too tired to have attempted it yesterday. But it's Saturday and I want my precious. What's the point in putting one over the US if Amazon/Royal Mail screws up!

 :rage:

Aw Leoba, that is Teh Sux. :(

Speaking of Teh Sux - I just finished watching it. And I did not like it.

Good: The glorious, divine, and terrifyingly good John Noble. Merry pledging allegiance to Theoden. Eomer finding Eowyn on the battlefield. The MOS. In parts. The Faramir/Pippin scene.

Ranging from "Not so good" to "Plain bad": Basically everything else. The pacing. Aragorn becoming King. Or... not really, kinda. The Houses of Healing. (Have been waiting THREE YEARS for that damn scene, and now I can hardly stand to watch it.) The Gimli fart. Saruman's death. Aragorn chopping the Mouth of Sauron's head off, thus "ending negotiations". WTF is this, the Boondock Saints?

Haven't watched the extras yet. I do hope they cheer me up some.

*sulks*

Gimli farts?

I can't blame Aragorn for going nuts at the MoS, he was such a sleazeball. :) The Houses of Healing are...meh...not there basically. I loved Pip's short talk with Faramir, and all the extra attention he gets in Minas Tirith. Saruman died how he should, except for the spikey wheely dealy...but someone somewhere mentioned this was supposed to be the traditional way to kill a wizard...stab, impale, drown, three times? I dunno. I was okay with moving his death to Isengard since he never reaches the Shire but not impressed with the spikey wheel.

I liked the Dead getting more explanation.:) I liked Gimli's blowing away the smoke though not his tiptoeing or the drinking game. I liked Pip stopping in mid-song...Frodo leaving Sting in the web (I can't remember that from the TE but maybe I'm wrong) I LOVE the prolonged Pellenor fields, especially the grief after the battle, Eomer finding Eowyn. I'm pleased. It certainly wasn't worse than TTT.

I LOVED the conversation between our heroes and Saruman. Mucho Tolkien. Was basically swooning over that scene. But yes, the spiky wheely dealy thing, especially the part where it begins to turn and Saruman's body disappears into the water and the camera focuses on his FEET, of all things, was a bit "Huh?"

My 2 cents...

I must say, in a way I feel a bit indifferent about the EE. Good scenes, bad scenes, and the result wasn't anything... more that the TE.

I liked:

- All the new scenes with Éowyn (though I really missed her and Faramir kissing).
- The Crossroads (the glimpse with the King's crown was beautiful)
- The little addition on Mount Doom ("Sméagol lied...").
- The many scenes with dialog straight from the Book.
- That everything is darker than in the TE.
- Probably a bunch of things I can't remember right now...

I didn't like:

- All the new scenes with Gimli.
- All the new scenes with The Dead (the sea of skulls (how many dead were there?!), that the surprise on the Pelennor Fields is ruined because we get to see The Dead agreeing to fight and stopping the ships, that we get two scenes were Aragorn & Co are standing in front of an enemy, and then The Dead comes rushing our of nowhere from behind them...)
- Gandalf vs. WiKi. Terribly disappointing! The scene went way too fast, Gandalf stood no chance at all, the flames around the WiKi's sword looked stupid... And why can't he take 5 seconds and finish Gandalf off before leaving? I mean, after he left, he was just gone for a long time before he appeared again and attacked Théoden. What was he doing all that time?
- The Mouth of Sauron. I didn't like his looks (...), the "grinning" looked silly, and what were Aragorn doing, chopping off his head?! Totally wrong. And then his corpse and his horse just went *poff*...

Not sure:

- Saruman. The scene was okay intil people started dying...

You are wrong.

Pfft.

Hey, I liked the MoS. Not sure about Aragorn's chop job, but the mouth was...reassuringly disgusting. Grotesque- Tolkien's villains always have been just a bit.

The sea of skulls...forgot about that, that sucked.

Saruman scene was great I think, I'm not sure about the RSWD, but it's passable. I'm so glad Grima stabbed him. :) That was almost straight from the book, that scene.

Mount Doom additions were cool...and I don't know if I was looking away or something but did they cut out the part where Frodo's head is floating on screen against a sea of lava, when the eagles carry them off? Missed that. Well, I didn't miss it really, it wasn't very smart.:P

So sue me, I was watching it on my mother's computer with the phone ringing constantly and my mother coming in every now and then- I had to say 'LOOK MUM LOOK THIS IS A GOOD PART'....and then she'd walk out just before the good part began.
