California has other issues. When we visited northern California a while back (a decade, now, maybe?) I was appalled to see tsunami warning signs all over the coastal areas we visited. I was a bit freaked out by that. Yes, the ocean can rise up here and wipe you and everything you see off the map. So be careful!
Of course, there's always the chance that the earth will shake and knock everything down there, too.
I prefer being in the middle of the continent where things like that won't likely happen. If the Yellowstone super volcano blows up, we are screwed, but otherwise, we aren't going to get hit by major geological disasters.
