One of the side benefits of these crazy storms is that the next day the weather is cool and breezy and perfect for taking looooooong walks.

Maybe it's just because we're between storms, but the weather at the moment is perrrrrfect. I'm taking a day off tomorrow to take advantage of this.

Good call! We are currently within a strip about 5 miles wide where the weather was not scorching last week. This week, we'll be below 70F until Friday, which is how I like it.

Oops - another tornado watch today. Let's hope nothing happens.

I can remember when these were extremely rare.

Yeah, it does seem to be the new normal. Which is not good.

On the bright side, in between the storms we're having beautiful weather.

Everything here is turning green again here, after a brutal drought. This may be the wettest August I've ever seen, after the driest spring I've ever seen.

Hydrologic inversion, I've heard it called. Is that even a thing?

The heat index here is supposed to hit 119 F/48C tomorrow, which is apparently the hottest ever on record.

I would literally not survive that kind of heat if I had to be outside.

We finally hit 80F and I'm wilting. My mom, only 20 miles away is over 100F. We are very fortunate that her AC unit went out a month ago, before the heat started, so they replaced it abd didn't have any interruptions on hot days.

Yep, the rain was very badly needed and there was a lot of it all around us. We only got a total of maybe an inch and a half over the past week, but most places got several inches. So, I suspect the "extreme" drought for the area is going to drop down to just "severe" drought on the next drought monitor map this week.

119F heat index is not fun. We've had a few days like that this summer already. One day was up to 121F heat index. I just stayed inside and hoped none of the livestock would die. They didn't- so yay!

Reading the past few pages of this thread, I see we had uncomfortably hot weather early in the summer, but apart from that, it's been mostly cool and pleasant.

Which is odd, because a lot of Canada is literally on fire right now.
