My coworker's puppy dug up his sprinkler system. :|

Hopefully the puppy isn't harmed by the bulbs.

Hm. My brain autocompleted the word tulip when it anticipated typing bulb, but we don't actually have any tulips, which I now see are toxic to dogs. We do have daffodils, though, which are also bad. She's fine so whatever she was chewing on didn't hurt her, but now I'm going to be worried about it...

Another massive snowfall has started with travel warnings. This winter has had more snow than any I can remember since I was a kid.

I was listening on the radio someone talking about how they went to Toronto for vacation and were surprised to find a lot of homeless there and I was very surprised because, how can you survive being homeless in a place that's below freezing for such a big chunk of the year?

When I lived in Montreal there was a homeless shelter just around the corner. Also, a lot of them would be sleeping in the subway stations when I went to work in the mornings. Despite all that, freezing to death on the streets is actually a thing here, sadly.

About Toronto, however - because of the peculiarities of geography, Toronto doesn't have all that many below-zero days. And temperatures of minus twenty are thirty are extremely rare there, unlike Ottawa, Montreal, and the Prairies.

I have to correct my previous post - I looked up average temperatures in Toronto and evidently they have overnight lows in the negative single-digits during December, January, and February. I guess the impressions I got during my occasional visits weren't all that accurate.

We are back to hey ho, the wind and the rain.

I've told my neighbor to cut back the gd tree that's leaning over the fence. If it falls and knocks down the fence, he can pay for it himself.

After a few days of warm weather and the snow receding a little bit, we have a cold front passing through and the temperature dropped several degrees in less than an hour. And, once again, a snow warning.

Hurray for working from home!

No, just an interior bathroom, but we were okay. We just had some mild thunderstorms. We never got above a watch.

I guess others weren't so lucky, though.

Do you have a safe place to go if they come to your area?

Just that interior bathroom, but it's as safe as I can get without a basement. I haven't had a basement since my 1st home, and I do miss them.

Also, I just got back from a short walk at a nearby park. It said it was 61F when I left the house. I'm thinking I needed to hit refresh on my phone because it was chilly when I got out of the car! I finally checked again. 54F. Now that I'm home (an hour later), it's 48F. It's also been hella windy, like 50-60mph gusts.

So I was chilly and then I found a dead baby bunny (that was still kind of warm [ img ], checked for a heartbeat but there was none). Then I was chilly AND sad. So I'm home now and planning to sit tight and do some reading. [ img ]

That's very sad about the bunny. And I read about the tornadoes across the south and midwest. They seem to have been quite extensive and destructive.

Aw, poor bunny.

We are still colder than the norm but lovely spring weather. We did have three earthquakes in 20 minutes, 3-ish about 15-20 miles away. Things rattled for a few seconds.

There was another across the bay earlier this week. It just gave the house a gentle but distinctive boink.

With the last storm, there were a couple of freak tornados in Southern California. If this keeps happening, we may need to reconsider wood frame houses. There's no interior anything to mine.

We're having an ice storm and a thunderstorm at the same time - I've never seen that before.

I think I'll stay indoors all day. I hope Willow will forgive me.
