Prim, I agreed with Din above and now I'm agreeing with you, especially seeing as we are a two-income family. :scratch

Of course, I took Din to mean that the traditional male role of breadwinning is considered more important that the traditionally female role of childraising and homemaking.

I remember when someone on 'the other site' was pregnant unexpectedly and she said that without insurance it would cost her $3000 to give birth in hospital. :Q $3,000? Without insurance, it would've cost me upward of $ 6 ,000. And even with insurance, the Pill can cost $20-$30 per month. :rage: Isn...

Well now, I wasn't arguing in favor of not covering birth control ... I still think my argument is true, because someone has to financially take care of those children the "men" are fathering, and eventually it will come back to the "men" making these decisions ... it just doesn...

BUt shouldn't the "men" in charge WANT birth control paid for? Since when do the "men" in charge want to be looking after a bunch of unwanted children?
Since they are not the ones looking after them. :(

Now, enchie , and others, don't knock getting married young. ;) I did it, 14 years ago, and I intend to stay that way. Married, I mean. Not young. Though that would be nice, too. :D I think marrying young is a problem only where the point of marriage is to have legalized sex (because some things are...

He is way out of line. It is perfectly fine for this or any person to turn to prayer as a solution for his own problems, or recommend prayer to someone he knows shares his faith. It is absolutely inacceptable for anyone to avoid doing their job by delegating his own responisibilities to the Lord. Re...

Well, that's an eye opener and no mistake. A girl thinks feminine thoughts, is domestic in her inclinations, and is fundamentally gentle in her relations to others. :Q I'm a boy! What the heck is a female germ cell ? Wait. Don't answer that. Now that's an interesting bit. I've heard many euphemisms ...

Ah, now that's a thread title I like to see. Congratulations, Nin!
:cheers

Prim, and why did they want to change the name of the town?

Even if you try to limit one member to one IP ('zat right?) address, which I would imagine would be a horrendous undertaking for the admins, people would then use different IP's to register their different names. I don’t think we can limit to one ID per IP address, because some members here share...

No. But that's the risk we take by living in a democracy - an asshole has as much right to a vote as an intelligent person. The job of the jury is not to deal out punishment. It is to prevent an innocent person from being convicted for a crime, and to stop the courts from being the tools of an oppre...

It is like suspension of disbelief in fiction. You know that an alternate reality has been created and you accept it on those terms. I agree. I just think that clearly marking the alternate IDs would have the same effect. But you don't want your local newscaster doing this, creating fiction and pas...

Please remember, erinhue's explosive and divisive nature is one of the many reasons we need a charter in place before opening the doors. And he would be the only person on this board with an explosive nature. :D I am not sure what you mean by divisive, as that has not been my experience with...

I've stopped ping-ponging after Tinwe 's post. No matter how I look at it, I cannot justify outlawing alternate IDs just because I don't like them (which I don't, particularly), if the problem of voting is solved and if it is made explicit (with asterisk or title) that this is an alternate name for ...

After giving it some thought, I've come to believe that Yovargas didn't actually display prejudice in this case. Prejudice would be deciding that the defendant was guilty strictly because his hair was died green, and you believe that everybody who dies his hair green is a vicious punk. In this case,...

I like Anthriel's idea. This way, at least, we would know that we are dealing with someone we have already met, while giving the poster's a way to preserver his/her/its anonymity for the purposes of either fun or soul-bearing. Or, if a * is too cumbersome, maybe these IDs could have a permanent rank...

Idylle, I remember your posting that. I don't see how it relates to my last post.

Besides, are you saying that that 49% of American voters who did not vote for the Republican President are NOT part of electorate? :scratch

According to my admittedly hasty research, a jury would be entirely within its rights to find a defendant not guilty even if the facts of the case clearly show that a law was broken. This right is known as jury nullification . From WikiPedia article: Jury nullification is a jury's right to deliver a...

Holby, are you talking about alternate IDs set up for a prank, like Cute_and_cuddly_raccoons or JacksonPurist? I think they are harmless and part of the fun comes from not knowing who is behind them. If having that option is really important to people (to me it isn't, FTR) maybe admins (the Mayor?) ...
