Now that last one sounds particularly good.

Oops, you are right, Dave, it was George Carlin. Someone forwarded me this quote among other Seinfeld stuff, but a bit of googling confirmed that you are correct.

I hate driving. I took an hour-long bus-train-shuttle ride to work instead of driving for 30 minutes, for 2 years. Of course, with traffic, it was bound to be an 1 1/2 hour drive half the time, and I could read on the train or write letters. To this day, I will try to get out of driving if I possibl...

Prim, I like your second poll wording. To make it really comprehensive, should we maybe add option 4 - Some forums will be readable to non-members, the list of these forums to be determined separately

Samaranth, is Jennie the story of a boy who turns into a kitten, Jennie being the adult cat who shows him how to be a cat? I vaguely remember reading a fascinating story like that, many years ago.

Oh, Areanor, I'm so very, very sorry. What a terrible blow.

I feel that the only safe way to run these in-thread polls is to go with whichever choice gets the most votes (or the agreed upon majority, although that backfired in a major way last time). Besides, breaking this poll into two questions allows people who don't want any forums readable by non-member...

Congratulations, Elti! Those restrictions sound pretty awful. No dancing? :Q Was it just on campus, or did you pledge not to sneak out to a nearby night club? What if you were on a cruise ship? Or a space ship?

And dishwasher? I'm so jealous.

I emphatically agree with Holby ! Let me have a go at this, and feel free to take this apart or ignore. Question 1. Should non-members be able to read every forum on b77 when the board opens, excepting restricted forums (Invites, Business, ToE). 1. Yes. When b77 opens, non-members will be able to re...

Rodia , TORC isn't. ;) Rowanberry , I agree, although personally I consider profanity a rather weak way of expression. ;) :scratch I consulted the Thesaurus, and IMO vulgar or profane are the most accurate synonyms. But I can see how some posters might be upset by such description, and to me it's r...

I also wonder about the phrase "occurs no more frequently than in real life." Whose real life? I hear very little "adult language" in my own everyday life these days, assuming "adult language" means profanity and not discussion of politics, economics and similar subjec...

Thanks again for bumping and sticking this thread. Now I can actually follow the Jury Room discussion. I rarely can't bring myself to follow a debate in which I cannot participate, which is why I don't listen to talk radio. :D 7. We encourage the correct use of language in order to foster discussion...

I don't know. It didn't look good. :( We were four lanes away, and I begged DH to keep driving. I expected a giant fireball any second, but thankfully the tanker didn't explode. What made it worse for me was that after that woman cut us off, and DH had to brake and swerve, squealing tires, the works...

I think The Elsewhere would make a fine title for a fantasy story. :) I don't like the elsewhere either. When we open and new people come on board, as we hope they will, what will elsewhere mean to them? Don't come in here unless you already have a friendship-and-exploration thing going with a member?

The scariest thing I saw was this little green Porche, driving erratically, passing too close, weaving around the lanes, cutting cars off. A young woman driving. She cut us off so close that DH had to veer into emergency parking lane to avoid her, and thank Heaven there was room on the left side of ...

Prim, I agreed with Din above and now I'm agreeing with you, especially seeing as we are a two-income family. :scratch

Of course, I took Din to mean that the traditional male role of breadwinning is considered more important that the traditionally female role of childraising and homemaking.

I remember when someone on 'the other site' was pregnant unexpectedly and she said that without insurance it would cost her $3000 to give birth in hospital. :Q $3,000? Without insurance, it would've cost me upward of $ 6 ,000. And even with insurance, the Pill can cost $20-$30 per month. :rage: Isn...

Well now, I wasn't arguing in favor of not covering birth control ... I still think my argument is true, because someone has to financially take care of those children the "men" are fathering, and eventually it will come back to the "men" making these decisions ... it just doesn...
