Thanks, Jude, that PDF is great. I don't quite have the vocabulary to read it, but I get the gist. I love that part of language acquisition.

Sounds delectable. It's as if someone sat down and designed a recipe guaranteed to be banned in every conceivable healthy diet. :D

Estel, we prune, but i'm not sure if we are doing it right. I was going to get someone do it professionally, but with pandemic, gardeners are awfully busy.

Depends on if I get the same kind of harvest as last year. We made jam, and also spicy sauce (inspired by tkemali), and brandied plums. The year before, we barely got enough for snacks.

If that happens, I might just break quarantine and come over. I love blackcurrant jam. (I'll trade you for plum products)

My grandma made absolutely best potato latkes. As far as we know, it was just potatoes, eggs, salt and pepper. Nothing we've tried ever compared.

I don't even try anymore. I just make latkes with sweet potatoes, or zucchini, or something fancy like that.

Estel, modern Hebrew. I've been practicing my reading on prayer book, but there is a distinct lack of texts on vacuum cleaning and restaurant menus. And the language changes, of course.

Wow, that's a plate full of fascinating things. Is the degree towards academia or clergy? Or something else, I guess.

I have literally never heard of marble racing.

Welcome back!

I've been looking for some easy texts in Hebrew and I'm striking out. Any suggestions?

I always have a moment of shock before I realize that Jude means 15C, which is quite pleasant, and not 15F, which is almost 20 below freezing.

Our cooling trend is only 50s, which used to be our normal weather literally every month of the year.

If I can catch that squirrel on camera. It used to visit my neighbor's orange tree, conveniently located by the fence. I almost decided to put up one of those tiny picnic tables so I could take a picture of the squirrel using it. But then the neighbors picked their oranges.

A resilient plant!

We put up the trellis for our peas today. It's a metal frame with a net, and I am not convinced it can withstand the inevitable squirrel acrobatics.

Are such big swings normal, or is it another symptom of crazy climate?

We had a week of high 70s, so now the normal weather of low 60s and overcast except midday feels like a let down. But the heat was not a good thing. Everything is dry already. It bodes ill.
