Stop the presses! Today I found out that Bill Watterson (of Calvin & Hobbes fame) has just published his first book in 25 years!

"The Mysteries" by Bill Watterson

I was planning on a quiet night in but I think I'll head to my local book shop instead...

It's only for a few seconds on this one-minute video, but flying manta rays? I never knew.

Why haven't they been used more often in horror films? Directors are missing out on a perfectly good opportunity to create more nightmares.

Why don't they create their own message board then?

Of course, if they did, I'd go spam them with interesting articles about literature and music, out of revenge.

The Salmon emoticon is an obvious reference to the incident recorded in the Gospels in which Jesus fed the multitudes with loaves and fishes.

And when I say "obvious", I'm reeeeeally stretching to clutch at straws here.

When I was having trouble with aphids, I always found them on the leaves, not the actual fruit itself. Apparently they suck the sap out of the plant, so that berries are unable to form.

After a beautiful cool August (when it wasn't tornadoing) we've gone back up to 30C in September.

Let's hope this is just a temporary blip.

Aphids have a special symbiotic relationship with certain types of ants, and if you've been following this thread you know that aphids prevented me from several years of blackcurrant harvests (thankfully it seems that they have been vanquished). So I'd recommend getting rid of the ants if you want a...

I don't remember that quote, but it sounds pretty accurate. So here are where the two trees are going to go, and here are the two trees. I think the final work will be done when the shed arrives, which should be sometime during the first week of September. Will that give the plants enough time to ge...

So I picked up some "blood and bone meal" to fertilize the new garden. That may have been a mistake - now Willow and Loki want to dig it all up! :Q
