Aww, poor little blackcurrant, not even able to unite with its brethren by being eaten. :D By the way, I previously missed Jude's question about crabapple jelly. I have an apple jelly recipe that should work just the same for crabapples (although test the sweetness of the result, as crabapples are o...

Aww, I'm disappointed. Huh, that's weird that it was a repost, but I can't blame the Bee for that mistake if it was being published all over the place. Unfortunately I can't comment on the article to let people know, either.

I don't know if any of you read Not the Bee, but for anyone who doesn't know, I just want to make one thing clear before I share from it. The Babylon Bee is a satire site; Not the Bee is its sister site with genuine news that sounds like it should be satire. First, I'm sure some of the Canadians her...

LOL!

This is a good place for language nerds - I mean, Tolkien was the heaviest-going language nerd I've ever heard of.

Yup, they look like pears, and from what you've said, I agree, they're probably green. It's a bit early for pears, surely - it must be late summer there. Pears are an autumn fruit, although I think they're a bit earlier than apples. Melbourne is pretending it's spring, and while the people know bett...

So I got my other half, who has a much better sense of humour, to try talking to Cleverbot. Here are some excerpts: User: Would you like to read the chat log? Cleverbot: Sure, what's it about? User: You asking me about song lyrics. Cleverbot: So you like helping me improve by torturing me. User: You...

These are hilarious! I must have a go!
(No, I should really cook dinner.)

And the result is, I'm not a funny enough interlocutor to be worth quoting here. Now I'm going to start cooking dinner.

The only thing I can think of to deal with aphids is to plant flowers that attract ladybugs.

I hope the farmer amicably puts it back! It's crazy but it's an international incident!

Sure, call me ED. Basics of pruning: remove any dead wood, remove what is over-crowded or doubling back on itself, and trim long new growth to shorter stems. Make sure you leave plenty of stems of 1) new growth, for next year's fruit, and 2) last year's growth, for this year's fruit. (Or year after ...

I can't say as I have any fun dialogues in my course so far. Come to think of it, my textbook is very dry (though I usually like that for languages - rules first). All I can suggest is looking up children's stories or travel phrases online.

Mmm, latkes. I've never been able to make good ones. I'll have to have a look for the potato sweets. I've an idea I've heard of them, but I'll have to see if the technique and other ingredients are plausible for the Shire. Those cookies sound interesting indeed! For authenticity, I think I will make...

Nice blackcurrant bush! Now I'm not completely sure if this applies, but if you haven't had seasons with tiny harvests, you may get a tiny harvest this year. My elderberry is doing that at the moment, and looks about that size. Freiga, did you prune your plum tree? Unpruned, you'll likely alternate ...

Let's go with toward something else. :) Honestly, I don't know, because it's not for ordination, probably not for academia, but not just for interest either. Well, maybe the languages are partly for interest, because plenty of theologians get by with only one scholarly language. But you can't expect...

Marble sports as in racing! Here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYJdpnjuSWVOLgGT9fIzL0g The Marblympics is my favourite. My last job was at a childcare centre, and the degree is in theology (hence Hebrew as a subject). I did mind the job loss at the time, but I already knew that wasn't going to b...

I recommend anything you're familiar with in your own language. Are you learning Biblical or Modern Hebrew? If Biblical, choose Bible passages that are familiar to you. If Modern, look up children's stories or comics on the internet. If you want Biblical Hebrew in context, I can recommend the servic...
