Drawn by Tolkien, and not Finwe.

(Sorry it took me so long. Double Easter drove everything else out of my head.)

Well, if no caraway seeds is the consensus, I'll try it without them to begin with.

I was wrong. I re-read it last night, and the first time was to help Luthien escape her father's prison, the second was to tell Beren he couldn't stop Luthien accompanying him into Angband, and the third was at Huan's own death to farewell Beren who died shortly afterwards. Did we decide to keep thi...

Ooh, there's an unanswered question here! And it's a hard one.

I believe he spoke three times. The last was at Luthien's death, but I don't remember the others.

I must confess to being a complete beginner regarding cornbread. There is a recipe in The Bread Book, but apart from that I know nothing.
(Maybe we should take this over to the cooking thread.)

:D

Wouldn't their natural state be Jerusalem?

But in the northern hemisphere, Lent (which name refers to the lengthening of days in spring) isn't in autumn. The southern hemisphere is weird.

I remember this game. Alatar, it seems to be your turn to come up with a quote, but if not, I'll find one.

I haven't yet, but the recipe has 1/4 cup of sugar to a cup of cornmeal and a cup of wheat flour. Also I forgot that I have to buy caraway seeds for the recipe, which I was meaning to do anyway, but that means doing a herbs-and-spices shop.

This is a mark of autumn here (only in the southern hemisphere): https://drive.google.com/file/d/15os7GSuKThmDEcg5KhwpNjOPQeEoOtmV/view?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hu4YKXxriavVm-5b6XXazPBiv8-kRjFT/view?usp=sharing (Apparently my phone's photos are too high-res to upload, and I can't...

Yeah, leaving it on would at least avoid the awkward jump (and probably anyone with pets has noticed that they only comprehend one time). I still think always-on DST would be more of a frustration to morning people than an advantage to evening people, but those are the best and second-best options, ...

Thanks. Yeah, the "exciting" topics I'm not interested in anyway. But I like to see what's there and decide whether to join in or not, same as in the other forums.

Odd thing, I'm sure it's some weird administrative setting: I can't open the "Thinking of England" forum. I'm sure I have been able to in the past, but now it says I don't have the required permissions to view it. I tried setting my birthday in my profile, but it didn't fix it. I am defini...

My garden is full of weeds, but I did harvest several enormous zucchinis and some small pumpkins. Also, a friend of mine had corn get overripe, so I took some to see what I could do with it. I've ground it into cornmeal and will try to make cornbread with it next time I bake.

I need to remember to take photos of stuff. I contributed some homemade hot cross buns to morning tea after Mass today, and they were quite popular. Edit: Glancing back through this thread, apparently it's been a whole year since I tried to write that fanfic about potatoes, and all I've done is note...

None of you guys should ever visit Melbourne in a proper summer (which, admittedly, hasn't occurred in a couple of years). Normal summer temperatures are in the 30s C, and a heatwave is a week of 38 to 43. You're lucky to get nighttime temperatures in the 20s during a heatwave. Autumn having just hi...

Somewhere that doesn't use daylight savings would be nice. I hate dark mornings.
