Eru, I've been traveling for the past couple days but we'll be moving forward again in the committee momentarily. I sort of wanted to hear people's opinions at a philosophical level before assembling specific changes for a vote because so many issues in those two Articles are intertwined. I think I'...

Holby, thanks for the sticky! If I understand the committee correctly, they are wanting to make the emails a Ranger issue rather than a charter issue. So ... emails posted under Administrator id in as many places as seems needed? Perhaps the current + permanent Rangers could make a decision about ho...

Lilly, thanks! Dive right in. Eru, thanks. Imo, it's especially helpful to hear about things like that which are kind of boring issues but are the face of the board that new members might see first. Liddy, my new avatar will be Bond, Jny Bond. ;) Seriously, though, I don't have time these days to co...

Folks, we need an additional volunteer for the charter amendment committee to make an odd number. Anyone up for it?

TED, Right now I'm in charge of this thread, because I started it, but I don't consider myself in charge of the committee. Looking at the committee, in fact, most of you were not on the original charter committee and I think that's a big plus. I wanted to check with Rebecca about a couple things bef...

Great. Thanks, guys.

I've got to PM the Rangers to find out how a couple procedures are executed these days, and then we'll start.

p.s. Alatar, after we get a response from sf and CG, could I ask you to confirm again as well, since the terms of their participation were a concern for you too Also, the list now in the first post has 12 people, so we need one more to have an odd number (or one less, if it turns out that way). TED ...

Thanks, Estel. What I would like to see from sf and CG before we start: 1. from sf, that he still wants to be on the committee, because he hasn't posted confirmation yet, and I really am not sure whether this is the committee he wanted 2. from CG, who has confirmed participation, that he agrees with...

Eru, no problem. If you were still acting as Mayor it would be different, but you shouldn't be obligated to do stuff just because we failed to replace you. Crucifer, I didn't see your name for this particular job in the other thread, so I didn't have you on the list. I apologize if I overlooked you ...

That's good advice, yov.

And it reminds me of something else ... in the past we've had a parallel thread in the Business Room so that members who are not on the committee can also give input. We'll do that again.

eta: OK, thanks, Rebecca

Estel and Rebecca , feeling clueless about the current charter should not deter anyone from joining, in my opinion. You both have ideas about how useful and accessible you want a document like this to be, and that should be enough. Regarding the disputes between sf and CG and how they might affect ...

Rebecca , thanks for the link. There was some confusion about what sort of committee was being formed, but here are the people who signed up, in order: • River - called for the committee under Article 3 • Lali • Estel • hal - having a stake in the matter, as then understood • Farawen • ...

CG , on the agenda next to the two sections that would conceivably contain the provisions you want (Sections 3 and 8 in Article 3), I wrote " if considered necessary." You certainly have a right to ask that your particular concern be addressed, but it should be up to the committee to deci...

So, you're on the committee, right Holby? River should be too, just in case there's any question about whether she did need to invoke her extraordinary powers ... Input from members begins in the middle of page 2 _________________________________________________________________ This time for real. I know that a committee was already self-organizing in another thread, but it seems to have gotten swept away by other things in the thread, and no committee formu...

Well, according to the rangers the committe meeting that is going absolutely nowhere is supposed to take priority over any hearing. That's because the call for committee got lost inside another thread when more quarrels were imported into the thread. But you know what, I can fix that right now. Mea...

This poster has zero grounds for calling for a hearing against anyone at this point in time. If he wants to post in the business room a request for a charter amendment committee, to consider changing Article 3 so that all rangers can be brought to a trial of some sort and ditched or penalized as a g...

There may not be a perfect system, but with a system such as this, you need these discussions to make sure that the system is functioning as close to perfect as humanly possible. Oh, TED, I agree completely. I wasn't saying that it should not be discussed. Rather, it's not the case that we 'overloo...
