Welcome to the Writers Forum.

Just initially, a few guidelines for RP here.
Quote:

Creative and Collaborative Writing on Board 77

Rules

The scribbling of fiction is such an individual thing, that it would be wrong for any of us to try and impose a set style to be conformed to. However, for the sake of maintaining quality and collective pride in what we can do, the following Rules do apply:

1) Do not use ‘Netspeak’

2) Please do your best to use correct spelling and grammar

3) No porn. If your characters want to go shag, do it ‘off-camera’; subtlety is so much sexier.

4) The thread-starter is the owner of the tale. They are responsible for instating any further rules they wish their story to adhere to

Helpful Hints

* Don’t kill someone else’s character without their permission - they might not like it! On the same note, treat others’ characters with respect.

* Pay attention to what’s going on in the story and make sure that what you write fits in.

* If you’re not able to write for a time, let the people you’re writing with know. Either arrange for someone to ‘carry you’ or, if the story-line is fast flowing, have the courtesy to write yourself out.

* Take heed: all-knowing, all-powerful, all-wise characters are Boring! Take time to create a character that works and has potential for development within the overall ethos of the tale you wish to tell.

* If you want a story to be a success, give some thought before you start to basic plot ideas and outline. The little details and the sub plots should work themselves out as you go, but everyone involved does need to know what the overall purpose is if you want to pull together as a team.

Useful Places

* Creating Memorable Characters

* Historical Fiction Writers’ Resources

* Encyclopaedia of Arda – for the Tolkien fanfic writers amongst us. ;)

Smallish question: Is this only RP or also poetry and such?

For the rest: Good stuff! :mrgreen:

*wriggles toes expansively*

I feel at home already. ;)

Aglanor, for what it's worth I think this ought to be for any kind of writing. Predominently of the collaborative, told from each character's perspective type that we know as RP. But if you want to share poetry, or write something solitary or run a D&D RPG campaign with dice :twisted: then whyever not? :mrgreen:

It starts to look like home precious :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Are we gonna have a character archives thread? Or can everyone start their own thread with collection of characters?

Naturally, will have to set one up. Unless a certain Belgian Lady wanted to set one up

Posted as well, as fryar John DeWitt. I'll be looking for stuff regarding Fryars, Bible-quotes and herbal stuff later on for fleshing out this character. If you see anything that really doesn't fit, lemme know...;

Eeep Din, just saw this now. :Q Did you have plans to start one? :oops:

I'm digging into ancient astronomy to see if I can come up with a nice char for Leoba's thread. It seems you chose a very interesting period in relation to (this) science. Galileo just invented the telescope and was a supporter of Copernicus' theory (which the church didn't like very much).

Will be on you like a rash my young dutch apprentice, for example. A friar in post Reformation (well post dissolution of the monestaries in 1539) england is a bit 'interesting', but as this Inn is in an 'interesting' version of england, I am sure he will be fine. I mean, the Kings wife was Catholic, so there would be plenty of menicants wandering around looking to convert the English back to the true faith.

Wow...quite the interesting place you got here. It'll be interesting to see what happens...

Would it be alright if I opened a thread to advertise RP's? Place where people can post their ideas for an RP and see who wants to join up, that sort of thing...

Go for it Guru, and I have not worked out how to shift your other RP over so if you want redo it here and I will lock the other, or move it or something....

Can't just move the thread? That's weird...there aren't even any posts in it.

I can just restart it, if that's easiest...

Neither...:P

Din: So is a fryar Catholic or Protestant? And how's the analogy in this case? Is chapel the correct place for a fryar?
