I've been keeping my eyes open in used book shops and it's fairly rare to find a Pratchett HC in TX and OK. I did find one recently though, titled Raising Steam. My favorites I've read have been starring Vimes. Though, Unseen Academicals was pretty good too.

If you do that you'll miss some great foreshadowing in the Liveship Trilogy. There's a reason they were written and published in that order.
That is just the sort of feedback I need. Thanks!

Still, I want more Fitz! :horse:

Anyone reading the latest trilogy with these characters? Seeing positive comments on it got me to order the first trilogy before trying the new stuff. The Elderlings books are excellent; my favorite fantasy after Tolkien. Which trilogy do you mean when you say "latest"? There's the origin...

Sadly, years later, I have yet to read Royal Assassin or Assassin's Quest. I did find the paperbacks of the Liveship trilogy at a yard sale and got them, so it looks like I should get started on the 2nd book. I flew thru the first book and really enjoyed it. :) I can see why Robin Hobb has become a...

And boy do I hate country music! (We do not discuss that period in my 20s. We all make mistakes when we're young and foolish.) :uhoh: I avoid Country Music! It's at least 70% of the radio stations around here. My pre-set stations in my car are set to about the only five stations around that aren't ...

I just ordered the first three books in this series (The Farseer Trilogy). I always try to buy hardback but the second book in the series is proving elusive. Anyone reading the latest trilogy with these characters? Seeing positive comments on it got me to order the first trilogy before trying the ne...

Weeks is three books into his second series (4 books planned) and the second series is possibly better than the first. If anyone is looking for a new author to check out the Lightbriger series has one Fantasy book of the year Gemmell award already. :)

Easton Press in the US (and maybe Canada) has a leather signed edition of Gaiman's Neverwhere. I missed out on Stardust which is sad because it's a couple hundred dollars on the aftermarket now. Not having Stardust has put me off spending extra to pick up Neverwhere in leather binding. Tolkien's the...

I must add my admiration for the film. So well done! The dry British humour was excellent. The story was moving and though some of friends thought it a little long, I thought it was well paced. It was elegant and touching. I suspect I will purchase the DVD when it comes out.

I recently saw the True Grit remake. I was initially skeptical since the original staring John Wayne was fairly well done. After all, the Duke received an Oscar for his performance in that film. Of all his films there are certainly others that could probably be more improved upon than this one. Now ...

If True Grit is an option for consideration I think it should considered. For best cinematography perhaps? The Kings Speech was excellent and deserves attention. Scott Pilgrim vs The World was very different and well done. Perhaps there is a category it deserves some attention? Inception should be c...

Hmmm, Now I will have to go check my mom's hardcover set (since those were the books I read) and see if they were abridged. I did read them all (minus the new one listed in the title) though it was years ago.
